Franklin 5K
About the Race
The members of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hold the Franklin 5K every year to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. It is the sorority's biggest philanthropy event of the year. The race benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Arc of Orange County, the UC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation.
In the past, we have consistently raised over $40,000 with this race, and we are hoping to increase this amount with each consecutive year. We had over 800 people participate in the race last year and sold over 2,500 t-shirts to families, friends and the UNC community. The race this year will be held March 17, 2012. The course takes participants around the UNC campus as well as through Chapel Hill neighborhoods. Prizes are awarded to the top runners from each age group at the party after the race in addition to free food and local talent.
